    Biking in Boston

The project narrative states: Which seems to imply that there will be a cost, though it is not mentioned what it will be or how it will be collected. Of note that I did not realize until now, the app part of the project will have integrated payments. So you can plan your trip and pay through...

Non MBTA buses, School buses and electrification

A small part of it is on-demand microtransit in dorchester, but the routes you're referencing are fixed route, every 30 minute shuttles provided by Via.

    Biking in Boston

The Bluebike expansion is a massive win. Not just new stations, but for the first time stations that *charge the e-bikes*. Plus way more bikes, both electric and standard. As for the other *half* of the grant [redacted because MAPC signs my paychecks] .

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

From what I understand, a combination of that with minor stuff that they were aware of prior was now being treated with what may be called an overzealously conservative approach. Basically zero tolerance policy for even the smallest of defects. I'd be willing to bet the system-wide...

    Site Issues

If I remember correctly, and it's been a long time since I've been in the back-end of xenforo, you can even have subcription payments built into the site and have tiered style membership. I.e. subscribers get an ad-free website while free users still see ads.

Red Line Extension to Arlington Heights

Anecdotal but to add on Lexington is also trying to supplement their existing transit.

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

It's entirely the reason. Residents were very vocal at the time about "why are you even studying this, we don't want it" to which the authors replied with exactly what you said. I was working at SECCOG for the majority of the time this study was going on. Groton (both city and town) are...

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

My pessimism about ridership on the Palmer ride stems from the station siting. I know there's nothing really to be done about the Norwich station...but it's not a great site. The transportation center is already hardly used and is in a really awful area for walking/biking. The area MAY get...

Red Line Extension to Arlington Heights

I'd like to think in a future where there's funding and willpower to run the red line all the way out to 95 that there's also been the funding and willpower to improve the NEC enough that space has been opened up at Logan from losing flights to New York and Philadelphia

Franklin Park - White Stadium Renovation

No. Sorry. Literally just look at your local grocery store's seafood section. Every grocery store carries it. The wholesale clubs carry it. That being said, come on. You can't rail against guardians and commanders for being to bland and seriously pitch sockeye over kraken. I'd take any of...

    Boston Harbor Flood Protection Projects

I'm no meteorologist but while such a scenario is possible, it would still mean Boston wouldn't get the worst storm surge because the storm would be weakened by making landfall somewhere around Providence/FR/NB

Franklin Park - White Stadium Renovation

Whoof. That's...not great. Boston FC Party was right there if they insisted on going the "City FC" route.

Should they intervene? I don't think they're any more qualified than a random passenger. Incorporating mental health professionals as part of the transit police or some other form of collaboration sounds significantly more effective.

https://www.patriotledger.com/story/news/2024/10/14/trump-campaign-2024-hanson-ma-floodlight/75668848007/ The Town of Hanson is apparently powerless to stop someone from projecting Trump 2024 on the water tower.

Agreed with the broader point, but I'm not sure I agree that this isn't preferable. Easier to monitor a lobby than every train car, and I believe regular riders would rather quickly pass by this individual than spend 30 minutes in a train car with them.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Initial gut reaction to any extended rail closure is painful, but considering we can't expect any real transit on the GJ within "several years"....maybe this is a net benefit? Then again I thought this logic would work about the decade long reduce of I-90 capacity in terms of its long term...
