    COVID-19 in Boston

Received the following message on Cambridge's re opening plan: Frankly, I don't understand its logic. Seems like small residential and commercial development gets the short stick, with no special allowances for outdoor construction.

COVID-19 Impacts on Logan, MBTA, and Boston travel and tourism

I spoke with a GLX worker briefly - from what I got it seems some work is slowed and not all crews are coming in. There is still active work being done on the Lechmere station steel. I imagine they are slowing non-critical path work but I'm not aware of any official communications to the end.

    The New Retail Thread

Weltkuche in Cambridge Crossing (near the new Lechemere stop) had a soft opening about a week ago. Given the coronavirus, they are closed for the time being but plan on re-opening when government allows. https://www.facebook.com/weltkuchebistro/

Housing (Supply Crisis & Public Policy)

That's fine, and I don't think we're in any fundamental disagreement here, really the question is one of magnitude. I think if we build enough top-quantile homes to the point where that market is saturated (measured by, for instance, vacancy rates in this segment vs the others), and make some...

Housing (Supply Crisis & Public Policy)

You're right, housing is not homogenous. And there are many ways to build cheaper even within a profit-maximizing framework - smaller lot/unit size, direct subsidies to builders, reducing the risk of lawsuit via legislation, decreasing permitting times to aid financing, lowering construction...

    Wind in Boston Metro Microclimates

For wind reports, I find windfinder to be the best (that link will point you to a map). There are individual weather stations but it won't get you an idea of the "microclimate". For newer buildings, sometimes they post a wind analysis of the proposed structure. Here's an example of MXD II at...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

The last update was 2019-09-30, available here (and money screenshot below): https://www.cambridgema.gov/~/media/Files/CDD/ZoningDevel/SpecialPermits/sp179/sp179_design_q1_20190930.pdf That shows that there will be protected bike lanes running along both sides of N. First St (a new road), and a...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

I had the same thought as I was walking away. But take a look at the master plan render: It's going to be nicely hemmed in by a tall building on the right (where the cranes currently are, parcel I). There will also be a tall building peeking out from behind at this vantage point. So...
