Now that Lechmere's shut down, looks like workers were engaged in some initial prep work today

Received the following message on Cambridge's re opening plan: Frankly, I don't understand its logic. Seems like small residential and commercial development gets the short stick, with no special allowances for outdoor construction.

I spoke with a GLX worker briefly - from what I got it seems some work is slowed and not all crews are coming in. There is still active work being done on the Lechmere station steel. I imagine they are slowing non-critical path work but I'm not aware of any official communications to the end.

Weltkuche in Cambridge Crossing (near the new Lechemere stop) had a soft opening about a week ago. Given the coronavirus, they are closed for the time being but plan on re-opening when government allows. https://www.facebook.com/weltkuchebistro/

You're right, housing is not homogenous. And there are many ways to build cheaper even within a profit-maximizing framework - smaller lot/unit size, direct subsidies to builders, reducing the risk of lawsuit via legislation, decreasing permitting times to aid financing, lowering construction...
