State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Hopefully such a view, if common among many other people, leads to the conclusion that we need more new structures to improve the massing aesthetic, lest we end up like Paris with Tour Montparnasse lol. You could probably have made a similar argument about the prudential as it was going up...

Whelp, I put in a letter for support in the comment box on the city project page Hopefully it doesn't get canned outright 🤷‍♂️

    Biking in Boston

Yikes, always scary to see something like this happen on a route you use often. Hopefully that area will be changed for the better soon

I was gonna say that BSL-2 didn't sound super specific, just from observing the academic side of all this I suspected most biotechs would need more than level 1 to do basic viruses and animal work but wouldn't need the level 3 certification for tuberculosis or whatever else.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I ride the C branch intermittently and have some positive anecdotal evidence from the weekend, first time I've seen someone pay with the AFC 2 readers at a backdoor :) Other than that, I've literally never seen another soul pay from the back doors where the operators aren't looking. Hopefully...

    Boston Common Overhaul

I think in a lot of ways many of those cities you've mentioned have it much worse than Boston in my understanding, not that I've spent any time in SF recently. They all accept this problem and the proposed solutions have been very limited in scope and, in my opinion, lacking in vigor and...

    Boston Common Overhaul

I don't know why the city accepts this kind of degradation in one of its biggest tourist attractions. The number of stabbings every year in this corner of the park is unacceptable

Maybe the bet is that WFH will permanently dampen demand for traditional office where at some point in the future demand for lab space might return as the one class of office that demands occupancy. Not sure I would take that bet personally tho lol

Semi related, does anyone have a good picture of the building, it's been lacking one on the Wikipedia list of tallest buildings in Boston for some time now

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I think that sounds right to explain why there are so many gated entries relative to boardings. Every station where there are more entries than green line boardings is one that also serves as a stop on a different line. At the stations immediately before a branch (Copley/Kenmore) we see...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

See that's what I want to know, allegedly getting rid of the gates in the original designed allowed for simpler station and contributed a large amount to the $3B -> $2B value engineering towards the end of the design process. My intuition would have been that fare gates are much cheaper than...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Does anyone have a rough estimate (i.e. order of magnitude) for how much implementing fare gates could cost? I remember seeing figures somewhere it would be something ~$1B to modify the stations, but curious if anyone has any newer insights.
