I agree -- and that's what I'm saying. The current option (a bucket of roommates living on top another) is about it. A microapartment would be terrific.
Ron, adjust your thinking from decades of collecting stuff and think like someone who's been in a cramped dorm or shared bedroom. Likely...
/\ Think the problem is right now we're not keeping any. Dating for 20-34 year olds for example: come back to my shared bedroom to meet my 5 roommates? Or, come back to my studio?
EDIT: I was wrong, n/m, nothing to see here. Thank you commuting student for teaching me about college graduates...
Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos
Hearing from colleagues that power may be coming back in spots. Not sure how long it takes to power up the T's gear obviously. Did I hear Gov. Patrick say maybe no T until tomorrow?
Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos
My whole point is it's not about losing a day's wages though this does impact those who need wages the most. It's that these are the people who do the critical jobs that keep things going for the rest of us. Nurses, hotel workers front and back...
Re: Fidelity's HQ may go high
Do you disprove your own argument? Backoffice to me says accountants and property management and phone support and other stuff. Talent to me says R&D. And wouldn't those people want to be in a thriving community where they have peers and colleagues from other...
Their IMP should describe that under "existing campus" or something similar. Zoning generally requires ground level zoning in business districts, unless they negotiate a variance. It's not so much about who owns it.
Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos
I guess my problem is this. The T is closing in 68 minutes. There's less than a quarter inch of snow. As F-line notes (and agree with) why couldn't they go even until 10? Suspend service earlier but allow third shift to get to at least go to work..
Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos
Too bad for the immigrants and poors who have to get to work anyways! Maybe they'll self-deport once they see what pussies for closing up shop. Because it's going to snow. 14 hours from now.
Re: 75 Ames St. (Broad Institute Expansion) Kendall Sq.
I've always thought about it as not being compromised, but as part and parcel in building this type of facility. The floor space for people may be smallish but those systems are mission critical.
Re: Christian Science Church Center Renovation/ New Towers
NABB are a kettle of fucks. Without the power of Marty Walz in the legislature I'm not sure they have much weight here. It is outside their jurisdiction so they can comment as any other person or entity can. Much else I don't think so...
Re: Boston College Master Plan debut
Did BC turn into a public school when I wasn't looking? Anyways, the answer is, "a lot less in the long run than shitty 'modern' materials that fail after 30 years and have to be replaced."
Hubway is renting the parking meters, right? Doesn't that mean the city can plow around them like they would any curb bump and making clearing the station Hubway's responsibility?
Re: Liberty Mutual plans major Boston expansion
I've heard the same thing. They were looking at "good for the goose/gander" demountable glass panel systems sitting 6x6, 6x12 or 12x12 on a grid, with offices only reserved for VP's and everyone else in the half-height spaces? And everything...
