Once, while looking at an ad for some pretentiously named upscale product, the thought went thru my head that the Bible could be made more hip and appealing to the sophisticates the ad was targeting by changing its name to The Biblé (pronounced Bee-blay). I thought it was a silly idea, but after...

    Aerials

Wow, that's almost overwhelming (but in a good way)! I wonder if there's something going on behind the scenes that prompted this extravaganza.

From this viewpoint the Seaport could be called the Great Wall of Boston.

It's time for deja vu all over again... Greenway Parcel 9 (Canopy Hotel): The Sequel. Now playing at archBoston.com. 😆

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Well, the ICA set a precedent as a museum that operated for a long time without a permanent collection. In this case they could start out like the ICA did while at the same time slowly building a permanent collection, so it wouldn't be an either-or situation, but both simultaneously. Having an...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Can you elaborate why? I've always had the impression that museums, etc. are constantly borrowing each other's stuff on a short to long term basis.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

That sounds like the dialogues I used to have with my dear departed mother as she got older: She: Could you please bring me a soda? Me: Do you want Coke or ginger ale? She: Yes. She also developed some interesting word usage, such as: She (as I'm leaving her bedroom): Please turn off the door.

Commonwealth Pier Revitalization (née Seaport WTC)| 200 Seaport Boulevard | Seaport

I'm 1000% relieved that they're keeping the name Commonwealth Pier — at least for the present. I was afraid that with the renovations there would also come rebranding and renaming, most likely to something completely ahistorical and totally vapid.

    121 Seaport Boulevard | Parcel L2 | Seaport Square

Here's a couple of images from the 2017 NPC. It's supposed to look more or less like the image above from one end to the other to provide a continuous experience, and to do that they would have to alter the 121 park.

    121 Seaport Boulevard | Parcel L2 | Seaport Square

My understanding is that after the 121 Seaport park had been designed and built WS hired the High Line designers to come up with a promenade that would extend from Summer St. all the way to the harbor. Their design is a boardwalk lined with trees, so the existing park will eventually have to be...

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

This is great, thank you! I've been looking for the post like crazy and I couldn't find it. One of the greatest aB posts of all time!

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

IIRC, a long time ago someone put up a post describing the aB construction project equivalent of the seven stages of grief. I wish I could find it because I think every reaction you listed was the indicator for one of the stages.

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

I like it, at least in the aerial photos above. The space has a feeling of structure, flow and boundaries to it that it was totally lacking as a boundless open wasteland. Before, there was no "there" there, and it looks like now there is. Of course, I haven't seen it in person, so I don't know...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

It all sounds very sinister and mysterious. I expect the next J6 hearing will drop the bombshell that Trump and Putin are behind it as they double down on their effort to overthrow "Our Democracy". LOL. Just a stupid lowbrow joke, people, similar to the one I recently posted about the proposed...

    General Boston Discussion

Rather flattering portrayal of Boston in the NY Post. The author laments that NYC isn't like that anymore. Both the author and the article get eaten alive in the comments, though. https://nypost.com/2022/07/10/boston-shows-new-yorkers-what-their-city-could-be-like

    Boston Harbor Flood Protection Projects

Oh no! The evil Spellbinder has made the L in "flood" a null letter, turning the proposed Boston flood barrier into the proposed Boston food barrier. Will Letterman arrive in time to correct the situation before the good people of Boston starve to death? Stay tuned...
