I agree both those cities need broader upzoning through all resi neighborhoods. It's a both and situation!

Vega (MXD Residential ) | 121 Broadway | Kendall Square

Sad story about the pressure on construction workers and the high rates of suicide and drug overdoses in the industry. This piece focuses on a worker who was on jobs in Kendall, apparently including Vega (given the photos in the story)...

    Whitman Infill and Small Developments

I didn't see a separate thread for Whitman, so starting one here. Visited for the first time recently. Some nice old buildings, a good (and large!) central town park, and some modest new infill, all within a 15-20 min walk of the CR station (albeit not a super pleasant one at times) on the...

Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

Exactly. It's frankly inexcusable to have the main walkshed of a frequent heavy rail line occupied mostly by 1-3 storey retail and resi going no higher than 4-6 storeys. There's a direct connection between the fact that Davis now has a large and visible unhoused population that is causing social...

    Parcel R-1 | 55 Hudson | Chinatown

I really dislike this imagery on the sign. An apartment is a home, even if you don't own it. And the use of a SFH graphic here is bad. Even in an income-restricted multi-family apartment tower the messaging is that owning a SFH is the ultimate goal.

Good read. Probably because I moved to Boston well after 2009, but I had no idea Tufts was once involved with this project.

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

Visited Manchester for the first time and really liked it! Some photos from a recent snowy day. Definitely some new infill sprouting up in the urban core, but walkability is sorely lacking. I was very impressed by the Currier Art Museum, and highly recommend William & Sons for coffee!

    Concord, NH Developments

Visited Concord for the first time recently--was quite bustling despite snow and cold temps, and there seemed to be a few recent infill projects along the main street. Revelstoke Coffee is a must-visit for coffee-lovers if you are passing through! Concord and Montpelier are both so much more...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I agree the Emerald Necklace is quite impressive, though if we are talking about it rivaling any US city park system, I'm not sure. DC of course is stellar, and overall I think the park systems of Minneapolis and St. Paul outdo those of any other city I've visited (reflected in their rankings in...
