I live where they installed bike lanes in Manchester (Beech Street). Yes, Crissy, very few cyclists use the bike lanes. However, the bike lanes have helped reduce the average speed on the "Manchester Motor Speedway" from 55-70 MPH to 35-50 MPH. Plus, they help increase property values in Manchester. Install them on Pine Street. The local yokels will complain about the bike lanes then yell about the speed of the two lane one way street when nothing is changed.

Ward 6 Alderman Crissy Kantor and Dobbins, Kantor questioned the need for bicycle lanes, saying she does not see bicycles when she drives.

“Why would we need to build a bridge? I never see anybody swimming across the river!”

Aldermen hold off for now on Pine Street bike lane - Manchester Ink Link

A plan to create a new bike lane out of an existing car lane on Pine Street from Bridge to Webster Street has been tabled by the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen Committee on Public Safety, Health and Traffic.

Visited Manchester for the first time and really liked it! Some photos from a recent snowy day. Definitely some new infill sprouting up in the urban core, but walkability is sorely lacking. I was very impressed by the Currier Art Museum, and highly recommend William & Sons for coffee!
