    Silver Line to Chelsea

I'll re-ask but 1) Prob not until 2019 for the procurement to start. Then its 1-2 years after that depending on manufacture and acceptance by the T. Its in the CIP so funding has been allocated for it. Its just a matter of time now. 2) Not sure what the deal is. They keep saying the bridge was...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

No sorry. This isn't how it works. That rail has been there for over a century. Its also owned by MassDOT. No Name knew the track was there, and there's been plenty of discussion of it being used over the past several years. Yet crickets from no name. But the minute the T wanted to test trains...

Boston - Most Embarrassing Blight That Tourists See

I find this thread interesting because we're (mainly) all locals. But my picks.. Logan Airport - Specifically, you're gonna get on a bus. We're the only major aiport in the country that uses f'ing shuttle buses to get people between terminals. "Hi, Welcome to Boston, here's your bus" But as...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

So I will chime in as a ROC Member and what I know about this. I've had loooooong discussions with the T about this. (and yes, with the right people too) They do. The bridge going up is not 100% tide dependant. Remember the creek is dredged so even in low tide a smaller craft can go up the...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

First off, thanks for posting that. If you didn't make the connection, I am the guy who was interviewed (Kris) in the article. Adam called me like out of the blue today while i was at work. Which is odd, he usually emails me first to schedule at time. I think he was trying to get this published...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

oh and one more thing.. ridership is building. Every day I see more and more people. Today I had to sit next to someone on the way home because most seats were taken. We even had some standees after we got to Airport. Mornings I see more people waiting. At 6am, there were at 8 people waiting...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

So today on the Silver Line.... As I keep saying.."When it's good, its good. When it's bad, it's bad" AM this morning was great. I had go in earlier to setup for a 7am meeting, so I was on the 6am bus. Box District To Courthouse in 20 minutes. I was at my desk in 30. Not too bad. Really, if...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Yes I'd see alot of 111's becoming C's. Difference is, good portion of the 111 travelers are between Haymarket and Cary Sq.. beyond Cary, ridership drops exponentially. But I've been on the otherside of the 111 at Woodlawn and waiting 20+ minutes for a 111 to take me into town (I often come...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

That was my old AM walk. 116/117 kinda sucks in the evening (over crowed) like the 111, and the 112 is to infrequent to miss. Could try to catch the SL3 at Airport but again, a crap shoot at best. TOo bad there's not a shuttle between Chelsea and Airport.. mmmhmmmm

    Silver Line to Chelsea

*shrug* Still better than sardines in a can on the 111. This is how I look at it. After riding the T for 20 years, I've realized, unless you're going within the same town, it's always going to be a 30-45 minutes trip no matter where you are going or how far you are. Its always the same. The...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

The bus was fairly full.. atleast for the SL3. Most seats were taken. A couple of standees. I'd say ~40 or so people. A good number got on at Airport.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

So yeah. As I said in a previous post.. the best way to describe the SL3 is: "When it's good, it's good. But when it's bad, it's really bad" Today, was no exception. As you can see from my sheet, The AM was OK. But the PM...ouch. Yeah a bit of traffic in the tunnel, and then the bridge...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Yeah we drove right by it just to sit for several cycles at that light to get into the tunnel ugh And I agree.. I tweeted while I was stuck to #freetheramp

    Silver Line to Chelsea

It depends on who you ask. I've had some success but I had one bad snarfu on Thursday with the tunnel. I also didn't ride friday (day off). But mornings its been pretty good. ~27-30 minutes as advertised. For me its about 40 minutes door to door, which is slightly less than my old way (111 or...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

¯_(ツ)_/¯ I don't work for the T. But like many bus routes in this system, it isn't about boardings or making money, it's about providing a public service. This what makes public transit public..... Would a minibus work? Maybe but remember its not just old folks going to the grocery store, I...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

No, Regional RTA's are testing them.. WRTA and Foothills transit have them Problem: Charging Stations Problem #2: Batteries aren't quite right for cold weather So its coming. I really think battery buses are the wave of the future for the Silver Line rolling stock.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

As a 112 rider.. yeah not a fan of any of this. You should come ride the 112 sometime, you'll see it's more of a service route for the elderly than anything else. Everett Transit Plan has the 112 remove the deviations and have it go from Wellington to Airport (they move it from Wood Island)...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

officially 10-12 minutes in Rush. I think with 8 buses they could make it closer to 7 minutes which is comparable to the 111.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Electrification would be a waste of money now being so close to battery buses. Rather see us wait for the battery buses to be a viable thing. Then you wouldn't need the hybrids or dropping of the trolley wires. If you look at my videos (and again this morning) we lose 2-3 minutes due to the...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

Yeah i think its a bit week, considering sometimes the 111 can be <5 minutes. I think its more because they just don't have enough equipment. Maybe this will be a push to buy some more SL buses.
