    Graffiti Images, Art, or Nuisance

Re: Pike Pictures (Not Pretty) The trash is an issue, but the graffiti I don't really have a problem with. Why dump money into removing the graffiti when no one really cares about it in the surroundings and, if you clean it, it is likely that it will quickly be covered up by fresh graffiti. I...

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Re: Shreve, Crump & Low bldng may be replaced w/ new develop That's still boring, static, and monolithic. Other than the breaks in the facade, I would actually argue that this is worse - without a curved corners, we can now quite literally call this a box. Far worse than what it would be replacing.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Re: Shreve, Crump & Low bldng may be replaced w/ new develop The problem is Druker WON'T preserve the historic exterior. If he would simply do that, a great deal of his problems would disappear. Of course he would still need to put effort into the above structure, but maintaining the current...

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Re: Shreve, Crump & Low bldng may be replaced w/ new develop Time to get ready for another fight. Looks like Druker is back: EDIT: Looks like 12345 just beat me to it... This is one of those buildings that, no matter what is designated to replace it, I probably wouldn't be for the proposal...

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

    The Clarendon

Trust me toby, I was aware that you were sarcastic. A mural covering the back of a 300+ building would look awful. I was just responding Boston02124's comment that murals are essentially ghetto.

    The Clarendon

I actually think murals can add a lot of character to an area. In certain contexts, I actually feel like they benefit their surroundings rather than detract from them. I'm not talking about random graffiti, but rather the well thought out ones that have a message to portray.

[ARCHIVED] Harbor Garage Redevelopment | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

Re: New tower at Aquarium parking garage. True, I can understand what you're saying. I still think that a photo of that area is far more recognizable than one of the Financial District - when given to an outsider. On the topic of height making a great city, I agree with nm88. I am almost...

[ARCHIVED] Harbor Garage Redevelopment | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

Re: New tower at Aquarium parking lot. I would say, that the Back Bay skyline with the Hancock and the Pru would be fairly recognizable to most people, but if you handed someone from out of town a shot of the Financial District, they would most likely have little to no idea what city they were...
