🔹 What's Happening With Project X?

I dont have a bizjournal account but one of the stories says something about the motor mart garage looking to redevelop.

parcels M1/M2 have been a flurry of slurry wall construction the past few months. these sites are very active

Its not going to be able to go tall so hopefully they thread a new building through the middle, although that may be cost prohibitive for how few floors they'll be able to add.

I really hope they come up with a jewel box style addition. I like the original structure -- pretty interesting for a parking garage.

Height will be an issue because of proximity south of the Public Garden.

It's been a while since I've been in the Motor Mart but if I remember correctly the ramps up and down are in the middle so I don't think they could thread a new building through the middle without completely ruining the garage aspect.

Ramps and spots are very narrow in there.

On the other hand, that should make it pretty easy to convert. Lots of big, flat floor plants. Oddly perfect for biotech

Anyone have an update on the Marriott Moxy hotel project on Stuart St? It looked like they were breaking ground a couple months ago, but I haven't seen/heard anything since...and we haven't discussed it on here...

Active work site. Lots of utility work. Big squeeze on Tremont Street (sometimes blocking 2 lanes for staging). Not much else to report.

skyscraper and highrise update

why? because we can. does it matter?

Q: do we actually build skyscrapers – or are we the nation's leader in bullshitting about skyscrapers?

what (if anything) is up with the proposed john hancock "tower" in the back bay? the one that looks like an old fashioned microphone crossbred with a norelco electric shaver.

Odurandina, where do you get some of your heights from? I am curious about the following for starters:

The Clarendon at 375'
45 Province at 372'
Avalon Exeter 348'
Marriott Moxy 286'
Wynn Tower 386'

I feel like some of these heights seem to shift every time I look them up.

nice list.
One note, government center, despite the name, is a private development.
