I like this one. I like they saved some of the history and I'm ok with the sharp contrast. I think a clean break is more honest and looks better than some half ass historocity. At least, here.

I agree with the approach they took here, and the new portion looks much more alive than the crummy renderings they put out. They had originally shown the historic building getting a buzzcut to remove those little eyebrow parapet walls at the corners, then a new cornice wrapping everything. It seems like they instead demolished those parapet walls and then rebuilt them for some reason!
