I seriously hope this doesn't truly represent the final design and colors of the project. This is seriously oppressive in an already depressing area. There was no real thought put into the design here. As usuaL
 
It looks like it could be a mental hospital in China (not that I know what one really looks like). You know, one of those buildings they build in a week.

China has much better architecture..I know from personal experience

Does anyone think the Noyes Storage would ever sell and be developed?
 
Does anyone think the Noyes Storage would ever sell and be developed?
I've often wondered that. The Kennebec Street side of that building is one of the areas most prone to flooding in Bayside during heavy rain, so it would probably require a significant investment to redevelop. I have to imagine it's a cash cow to the current owners; building probably owned outright, with regular cash flow from storage operations and very little overhead.

Similarly, could the Portland High School property every be redeveloped if they do go through with the plan to consolidate the high schools?

I worked with a property owner in the neighborhood years ago who offered 8 figures for that property and it was declined. That said the children are now in charge (I think), so that could change. My guess however is that no, they are not interested in selling (at least not at market rates). Great property location though. I've always thought that the cobblestone street on its 'backside' would make a great Old Port type street if they blew out the bays and turned them into retail and dinning.
 
This is "progressing" at a snails pace. But nevertheless, still good for inspiring the future of this area.

I would expect a senior housing refit for PHS. Given that some parts survive from its earliest days, trying to tear it down would kindle a preservation fight that would make 142 Free St. look like a minor quibble over drinks at the Cumberland Club. It would legit be another Union Station moment.

And of course, this presumes, as you said, they manage to come up with a consolidation plan that's affordable. I would envision either an expansion of Deering High, or something in the woods at PATHS. In fact, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the city made the argument "we just created a new park in North Deering, so we can take these woods now."
 
While you are in the general vicinity do you think you could get a few shots of the Fidelity Building's renovation progress?
 
Portlander, good call but I’m just now seeing this! I’ll get a night shot later as there isn’t much visible progress yet. At night - the building is lit up and that’s something the city hasn’t seen for some time!!
 
Not much verticality yet but I’m so excited to see this one take shape. Tight footprint, big ol’ crane coming soon, and a large building in a once sad/underutilized parcel in Bayside.

Pretty cool to imagine this street view perspective in 6 months then again in 2 years!
