BU Today has posted a piece on the changing face of Kenmore Sq, including this slideshow showing the various state of the Sq. over the years:

Judging from the comments following the article and the initial reaction over at UHub, the consensus seems to be that it glosses over the negative impact that recent changes have had to the Sq.

Well, the BRA declared the block to be historically insignificant and altered so far beyond its original design to make it impossible to restore. Let's not forget the infamous "Rathskellar" was located on this block.
