Archstone Block - Mid 80s

The NEMC Orange Line station was built decades before the rest of the Southwest Corridor Orange Line. It sat waiting for many years.

I believe the infamous Naked Eye was in the building where the motor vehicle department is now at one point in Combat Zone history. The first time I ever went to the Combat zone was when I was 19 back in the 1970s. You could drink at 18 back in those days and the bars and clubs were sleazy but amazing to a college kid. People claimed the dancing girls were grad students from Tufts and while we all knew that was bullshit many of them were young and very good looking so no one cared where they were from.

Times were a lot different back then, before the Regan revolution and the Geo. Bushes and all the radical conservatives and overprotective liberals got there grubby fingers into everything. In my admittedly foggy old mind, people still believed in freedom, taking a risk, and having some dangerously exciting fun once in a while.

Not sure why, but I can't view the pic. Any suggestions?

Reminds me of what a hash they made of the Liberty Tree Building when it was "restored".

I'll be wearing my bright red Liberty Book II T-shirt tomorrow, in observance of our nation's independence.

My favorite part of that pic? The nonexistence of SUVs on the road.

Oh, and the big brazen celebration of NAKEDness. That's cool too.
