AstraZeneca/Alexion | 290 Binney Street | Kendall Square

Per the project update site (https://www.mxdsub.site/updates):

"Excavation down to the first parking level is almost complete at 290 Binney, with the first tower crane erection under way. Columns are being exposed to begin steel erection soon."

Well that didn't take long:

The article gives more insight though. This also seems the reason why the 2 story building there stands. The whole think is a lease issue more than anything else - the loading dock and 'vibrations' are a bit of a red herring.

This one is turning out to have a more aggressively slanted front face (on the Binney St. side) than I thought based on the renders, and that's a positive in my eyes. It's going to make it much more interesting, especially in an area that's got some boring buildings.

So, is ThermoFisher going to be the tenant (given the big red Thermo sign on the fence)?
They're the current tenant - they sued over site access so I assume that's for their benefit: https://therealdeal.com/national/bo...iotech-company-spar-over-kendall-square-site/

The article says that 290 Binney is for AstraZeneca. I suppose it's possible ThermoFisher could end up in the new 250 Binney (which will replace their current building), but there seems to be bad blood to get over...
