It turned out alright and seems to be of decent enough quality but a couple of strange things happened during construction. Maybe half the foundation had been excavated when it was inexplicably all filled in again. A large section of the first floor had been framed out in wood but was then taken down and replaced with steel.
 
A few years ago my daily routine took me along Mass ave in Porter. I just remember that seemingly for years, as these guys were building the Porter Sq hotel, their sketchy 40-year old camper van was parked right there...it was like a permanent part of the Mass Ave streetscape at that time. Or, how do these projects sustain their financing? I'm pretty sure "property shall not be a blighted mess 4 years from now" (or thereabouts) is a criterion of most loans.
 
What's the final floor count going to be, and will it not have an elevator?
