Cars

OK thank you for that Z3. OK thank you for that SLR shot, because I too have never gotten to see one of those up close and in person before. OK thank you for those gorgeous golden hour shots, and welcome to the wonderful world of RAW! Get ready to wish you had more RAM.

Ah, those first gen Explorers were understatedly handsome.

The Back Bay snow photos are so timeless.

@Arenacale I'll see you with a diecast first gen Explorer and raise you a Lego Jurassic Park version as well 🤡🤡🤡

I bought that diecast specifically for that two-tone Eddie Bauer trim. 1990s two-tones fucking rule!

When Eddie Bauer declared bankruptcy this week, the first thing I thought of were those old Fords. In a lot of ways, they were the precursor to true luxury SUVs, an off-roader with a bit of class. That dark green EB Explorer may actually be the most purely 1990s car.

My parents got a 2nd gen Explorer on a deep discount as a "hail car" and ended up with a series of them, until the last one they had a few years back was a bit of a lemon. The first one was great, though. The first couple of generations were handsome and understated, from the 2000s on they've constantly evolved to become bloated and porkier. Ford seems to have learned, though, the Bronco Sport is essentially what the early Explorers were, and sure enough my folks recently got one of those and love it.

I wish I was out in Laguna Seca this weekend, where Porsche and Apple have gone all-out on throwbacks for their respective 75th and 50th anniversaries. An Apple sponsored 935 K3 ran IMSA and Le Mans in 1980, and they've put the livery on the Penske 963s for this weekend's race. The GT2 with the 935 bodykit is actually owned by Apple exec Phil Schiller. The perfect cars to take to Micro Center in Cambridge. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1J8Wu6KJxu/

And from yesterday is this 1957 Bel Air sedan with all the bells and whistles that I had to snap very quick because he was leaving in a hurry. Full turquoise interior! What an absolute beauty
