Weird that Trinity is getting out ahead of the RFP. I'm guessing several more developers join the fray.

Great news. What are they going to do about the playground that was purposely built where the solid ground of this project would have to go to hamper further development?

The article states that it would be relocated and tripled in size.

given the likely 2nd coming of this spectacular project,
i can't help but wonder if it gets built sooner then Central Wharf.

Theres no solid approval of central wharf's aquarium towers. There's so much backlash I highly doubt that the towers will be built.

Also, Im excited to see some renders!

Chances we see renders? They're 'hoping' the state puts out an RFP in ~6 months. Would Trinity just continue to 'hope?'

Jim Keefe, a Trinity Financial principal, detailed the vision for the project at Monday’s meeting of the Bay Village Neighborhood Association Licensing and Planning committees at the South Cove Apartments, which he said has been dubbed “Midtown Boston” in an effort to distance itself from Columbus Center

This will go nicely with "Uptown" (North Station/Bullfinch Triangle/West End). Of course, it'll be confusing that in order to go from Uptown to Midtown, one has to pass through Downtown, but who cares about that?

In all seriousness, this is good news. I'm not holding my breath though.

Great, maybe we'll have something to look forward to in 5-10 years.

Trinity is likely jumping on this because they own terra firma at Mass Pike Towers, with a large parking lot abutting the Pike!

Exactly to quote the principle involved with what I would say is something less than a hint at a proposal
Meanwhile, Keefe speculated that MassDOT would issue an RFP for the parcels “in the next six month,” but even so, he said it would likely be another five years before the first building is erected on the site and 10 years before the project’s completion.

According to the article, it sounds like they are working with the community to get input, etc. I hope they get the locals on boards / don't propose anything inflammatory so it gets approved and can move forward, rather than get stuck in the NIMBY mud.

^^As the development group with the advanced ground game, they may be perceived as the favorite to win the bid. The strategy appears to work from the old design, and allow Planners to cite precedent as grounds to approve. It's not low hanging fruit. Millennium won't be one of the bidders. Other developers may choose to sit the project out.
The BPDA just had another Air Rights project implode. They're eager to see this one to move forward much sooner than Trinity's facile quip.

Re the Mass Pike Towers.... Here are 2 incarnations of that concept that I've had stashed away on my HD for decades, like you said.... The one on the left is dated 2005, the one on the right is even older.

Last I checked, yes. They have been trying to sell (the concept of) a new (market rate) tower in the parking lot for about 2 decades.

Interesting. I guess that isn't too shocking they would push for a market rate. Kind of surprised that hasn't happened there or at Tai Tung. I think Oak Terrace has converted some appartments to market rate (although maybe they always were).

CCBA has filed an LOI about the parking lot at Tai Tung Village, 288 Harrison (it has been a long time coming). Per the LOI the development is going to be all affordable (not sure how they will pull off the financing for that!).
