Developer pitches housing for lot near Fields Corner T stop

Lee presented a plan comprising 23 studio units and ground floor retail in the four-story building. He said he was aiming ultimately for the residential units to be within the budget of a family making $54,000 a year, adding that he wants to include local entrepreneurs in the ground floor retail.

More triple deckers... woo, gonna be fun when they look like shit in 10 years.

This is the tip of the iceburg. Fields Corner could easily turn into a Dudley Square type area that would welcome even some 20 story buildings.

Boston Globe said:
The neighborhood around South Bay is changing fast. And next up could be an apartment building on Boston Street in Dorchester’s Polish Triangle that would include about 400 units.

Development firm Bass Realty on Thursday filed initial plans for the project with the Boston Planning & Development Agency, saying it wants to put a five-story apartment building on the site of a Verizon service center and a neighboring warehouse on Enterprise Street...

This looks to be the site. A development of this size (400 units on 4 acres) might even deserve its own thread.

“Dorchester Brewing Co. Is Adding A Roof Deck And A Restaurant”
“Dorchester Brewing Company, a craft beer bar and brewery on Massachusetts Avenue, is expanding to incorporate a larger tasting room, a restaurant, a glass greenhouse and a rooftop deck. The $3 million endeavor broke ground on April 2nd. It should be completed by October, according to Matt Malloy, co-founder and CEO of the brewery.”

Not just Dorchester but the Fields Corner one says 36 units. Uphams Corner is another possibility

Why stop with those small branches:

Quite a while ago I proposed a tower on the corner of the Johnson wing of the BPL
There is a Massive support structure at each corner of the Johnson Wing -- It could be used to underpin a nice thin blade-like all-glass residential Tower located over toward the Pru [Blagden & Exeter St corner] to be minimally in conflict with the McKim Building or Trinity Church or Copley Sq.

Give the true Bibliophile a way to descend to the library without going outside if they want

Similarly some developer could put a BPL branch into a structure in the Seaport area

“The developer had planned to build to 24 and 21 stories, but scaled those plans back late last year in part because of local opposition. Center Court still plans to build to 15 and 17 stories under details the developer filed with the Boston Planning and Development Agency on January 22...”

“That’s the first phase. Center Court wants to fill out the adjacent 35-55 Morrissey with up to five new buildings with another 1,080 housing units, 86,500 square feet of shops and restaurants, and a 60,000-square-foot grocery store.....”

Great news but I would say that this development definitely deserves it's own thread!
