Coney Island HD is amazing. I had to go to Federal Court in Worcester (just up the street) today and made a point to go by.

Aren't they usually closed on Tuesday's? I hate when I get hearing notices for court dates on Tuesdays because that means no Coney Island stop before or after court.

City sports "coming soon" to the base of the state street bank building near PO square.

Would have posted this in the new retail thread but it wasn't on page 1.

I wonder if this means they may close their spot on bromfield.

It's still commonly referred to as "the state street bank" building

But thanks for adding no value

They are closed Tuesdays, so if you actually want to dine rather than just rubberneck at the amazing exterior you'd have to go further down Southbridge St to the Miss Woo.

Could this mean One Bromfield might be starting?

Seems like wishful thinking, to say the least--"if maybe this, then possibly that, then..."

That project has been stalled for five years. Not a peep out of anyone about it, really. So many wheels have to be set in motion again for it to even approach resurrection.

"But wait" one might say, "just look at Filene's." But that's just not an appropriate comparison, to me at least.

Midwood’s Usdan needs physical proof that Downtown Crossing has turned the corner.

“I want to see foundations poured,” Usdan said from his Manhattan office. “Call me when you see some shovels.”

Technically there aren't any shovels yet...and now with this new tax credit situation...I want them both to be built yesterday.

Agreed. My sister had a baby at UMassMemorial on Saturday morning, so I stopped by Coney Island on my way out after visiting them that evening (and took that pic in the most perfect twilight I'd seen in a while). I've wanted to go for a while, but I could never seem to make it during past visits to Worcester. I got there at about 7:20 and the place was empty (it closes at 8 on Saturday) and the hot dogs (one "Coney Island" -chili, mustard and chopped onion- and one with just chili) were quite good.

You know I've worked here in Worcester for almost two years and have never been to Coney Island or Miss Woo. Am headed out right now to rectify the situation.

The strip club by there isn't even the Portland Sea Dogs of the talent feeder system. I'd say more like the Grapefruit League.

P.S. For the benefit of our friend NM88, I hope the Bromfield project never gets built. The building on the corner isn't bad, the high rise on Province Street is enough height for the neighborhood, and the eventual loss of the small businesses on Bromfield would ruin the character.

Check out the final One Bromfield submission to the BRA--it's still floating around in cyberspace, even if it's been taken down from the BRA page. The commentary letters from Druker Co. and Abbey Group are... less than supportive. Given their extreme dislike of the original project, and how influential they are as downtown developers--separate and aside from being abutters to One Bromfield--until they "come around" on the project (if ever), I don't see much progress, at all, on this.
