Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

I think expansion of Encore Casino is about to start.

Will this addition include any restaurants that are not a complete and total waste of money? I don't mind expensive food when it's good. I understand the food is not the draw at most casinos around here, but I never understood why they don't have at least one or two "destination" restaurants that would bring more customers to the casino who might play some table games or slots before or after dinner.

I have yet to go to the casino, but I remember when they built it that they added quite a few restaurants that were supposedly good, is that not the case? Looking at the website there is quite a lot to choose from, including:

Rare: Steakhouse

On deck: burgers, wings, beer, sports bar

Red 8: Chinese, dim sun, wok noodles, duck, seafood

Garden Cafe: American breakfast, brunch

Cheese Meet Wine: carved meats, cheeses, wine

Night Shift Brewing Kitchen and Tap: pub fare, locally crafted beers

Mystique: Asian inspired dishes, sushi

Fratelli: Southern Italian specialties honoring the North end

Frank and Nicks: North end meatball subs, eggplant, chicken parm, paninis, pizza

Shake Shack:

Dunkin:

I went to Red 8 in the early days and it was pretty good. Overpriced for what it was, but good. I know a few people who prefer Rare to any of the other steakhouses in the region. I'm skeptical (and I also feel steak is one of the few things I can do better at home so I typically avoid overpriced steakhouses), but I haven't tried so I can't personally speak to the quality.

Restaurants are pretty good. The carry a casino premium though. Red 8 is good, and more authentic Cantonese food. Mystique is fun and energetic. Rare is a kind of high roller place, with showy high end steaks (compared to somewhere more traditional like Grill 43).

I've only been to On Deck, but the burger I had there was quite good.

Have only eaten at the On Deck Burger Bar. Waited about a half hour for just an ok burger. Many of the restaurants there quite pricey.
