Looks like the side is mostly finished

Is color stability during manufacturing of precast panels so unreliable that there can't be an attainable level of consistency? Or is it a we-don't-really-care lack of quality control?

I'm not referring to the difference between orange panels and beige panels. There is a lot of splotching and lighter/darker shading of the color in the individual orange panels. It seems there isn't such great color quality control in their manufacturing and the variance goes beyond what should be acceptable. The result is a sloppy looking facade.

Maybe its part of NU's strategy: When their initial proposals get shot down, make the replacement ugly.

The initial proposal wasn't made by NU. It was an independent company. In fact, NU was one of the reason why it was shot down because the initial proposal would allow students from all nearby universities.

Speaking of NU, don't they actually plan on building a ~35 story, area-dominant dorm tower in the future? Any word on that? I noticed it in part of their master plans.

I never read that in the Master Plan. NU is required to build another 600 bed dorm in the next 4 years and a 400 bed dorm in the 5 year period after that. These were mandated by the city in order to get approval of the Master Plan.

LOL! NU was one of the NIMBY's back then.

The master plan has NU building a ~25 story dorm at the site of the current Burstein/Rubenstein halls, directly across from the MFA. This would be right next to Wentworth's proposed tower at Sweeney Field, which IIRC would be the tallest in the area.

I'm having a little trouble figuring out where I saw that 35 story tower. I thought I saw something around the same time as the initial science building renders. It looks like the master plan came out in June of last year. I actually thought this visionary tower predated that.

Anyway, what's the building on the far right of this drawing? Maybe that's what I was looking at. (although, not 35 floors, but does dominate the area) Still not sure this is what I am referring to.

That's the Mass Art Tree House Dorm. And perhaps you are thinking of the never built Building K over Cullinane Hall?

The building on the right is the aforementioned Wentworth Tower.

I'm fairly certain the Wentworth tower was designed in concert with Northeastern's development plans, which is why they would both be included in the NU IMP.

DZH22, I believe the building on the far right in the drawing you posted is the proposed mixed-use tower that Wentworth wants to build (as part of a three building complex) on Sweeney field. The two other buildings will be in front of the larger tower and will be six stories in height.

I forgot about that. Which is funny, because it was when I was in college and we were fighting against it. But technically, the original plan would allow people who weren't students at all to live there, as I remember it.

DZH22 has an image with the proposed Burstein / Rubenstein site tower. There was also on / off / on / off talk about a tower in the parking lot behind Stetson East.
