Harvard SEC (Science & Engineering Complex) | Western Ave | Allston

That 'lace' detail will be heaven for roosting birds, and hell for the maintainers...

So far I'm a fan. I like that they have little holes if you look close. Small-scale details like classical buildings. I think the building does look a little too white for Boston (should be more gray or beige or red) but I'll reassess when it's done. Interior should be spectacular.

Am I missing something in thinking that NU's ISEC buildings (current and planned) are far more adventurous than Harvard's SEC?

I would think that it would be the reverse, Harvard would stretch it's legs a bit and NU would go safe, boring and cheap.

You beat me to the punch, Czervik!

I was just about to post:

"NU ISEC - 1 - Harvard SEC 0"

More broadly, what Northeastern has been doing architecturally and urban planning-wise is transforming Huntington Ave and the Ruggles area. Harvard is building Waltham in Allston. In this respect, Harvard could take some lessons from NU.

The gossamer lace building.

Finally able to get an idea of what this will look like. Gonna be pretty different and interesting imo.

This hints there is a beveled, reflective face to the lattice screening, and on the south, east, and west facades, it will sparkle in sunlight, when the sun is at a certain azimuth and altitude.

They've done a great job in replicating all the warmth and character of the existing Science Center in Cambridge....

That certainly is a look! It's bold, or something.

It is unique, once its all together and landscaped I think its gonna be pretty cool.
