It's a bunch of anecdotes, but looks like the newest air source heat pumps are performing decently in the deep cold (down to single digit negatives).

We switched to heat pumps when our boiler died this summer. They have done a good job keeping up during this cold stretch. We are still figuring out how to balance the various heads to evenly heat the open floor plan we have. It takes a little time to get used to the breezier nature of the pumps vs baseboard.

Combined with the heat pump water heater, we are now down to just natural gas for cooking.
