I'd like to log here our collective wisdom on how licensed vehicles "participate" or "opt out" of automatic enforcement in Greater Greater Boston.
As we rely on plate-readers for toll collection, and potentially for congestion zones, red light cameras (Providence), or speed cameras, the ability to read plates becomes a critical part of revenue and enforcement.
This was inspired by Gersh Kuntzman's twitter,

This was inspired by Gersh Kuntzman's twitter,
Where he documents:
- Foldaway front plates
- License plate covers (are these illegal in New England states?)
- Folded over plate edges (conceal first or final digit)
- Obscuring items (leaves, tape, stickers)
- Defaced plates (peeled or corroded in patches)
