Logan Airport Capital Projects

Unless you live very close to these Logan Express locations, travel solo, or are traveling for several days, I don't see this being a huge advantage in terms of time or cost. I live about 12 minutes from the Framingham Logan Express. If my wife and I want to take it for a weekend trip, we need to Uber to the Logan Express (around $20 with tip, depending on demand). Then we need to pay $36 for two round trip Logan Express tickets. We are now in for $56 with the Uber. Then add $7 per day for parking and we are up to $70.

Well, if you Uber, you wouldn't need to park? So it'd be $56 for three days (or $57 if you just drove to Logan Express) versus $111 if you use the economy garage, plus the gas and the Pike tolls.

For about $15 more, I can park on my own at the airport, leave whenever I want, avoid the Uber, and skip waiting for the bus (especially on the way back home where you can wait 30 minutes for the bus if you just missed one).... As for skipping security, I am sure I will jinx myself, but it has been years since I have waited for more than 10 minutes in a TSA Pre line at Logan which to me negates the biggest advantage of this program

If you uber to logan xpress, then why are you paying for parking? Parking at the airport does eliminate the stress of catching the bus and waiting curbside, especially when arriving at midnight on a cold winter night waiting to catch the last bus (too many times). Anyway, yeah, do whatever is right for you. I do appreciate that there are other alternatives and extending airport services beyond the confines of the airport and TSA lines.

If Logan Express wasnt worth it - why are they always full? The Woburn location now routinely overflows to the commuter rail parking.

Its obviously not going to help every single individual person, but its a pilot program and until other ways are imagined and implemented this works now because once the people go through customs and then get on the bus they are in a controlled area where nothing will be able to enter or leave until the bus gets to the terminal beyond the customs point. You need the controlled access to make this work and they have it here, then on top of that its the most benefit you can get out of one location because the number of people who use logan express. All of those factors come together to make this work here.

Its good to see them experimenting and imagining new ways to do things because thats how in the future it would be able to benefit more people, like the poster who doesnt use logan express, when they can find more ways to do this. You start here and then if successful they have more locations and maybe try more things.

Overflowing LEX parking lots is a good thing. It's a sign that passenger traffic at Logan may be healthy and that people are opting to use LEX instead of driving into the airport.
