Another "cut-out" now being carved. Thick walls and vaulting (today, 10/30):
I was expecting a glacial pace on something like this. Exciting to see it moving..
The heavy storage construction method before concrete waffle slabs. The Park Street station ceiling has similar vaulting to hold up he soil and traffic above it.Curved brick ceiling vaulting looks pretty cool!

They've divided the building into five cubes, four with a specific programmatic focus, and the fifth, in the center, is called "Mixer".
Very grateful to MIT for preserving and repurposing many fine old industrial era buildings in the Kendall Square area.
