I'm usually more of the preservationist type for these things, but man, that hotel (it's a Wyndham now, I guess?) has got to go. Drives me nuts that One Post Office Square had to be reclad, but this Topeka-Thinks-Its-Vegas looking thing sticks around like a cockroach.
The MGH building will be much taller, so much of the Hotel will be blocked from many angles. Agree on One Post Office. Should have never been turned to another glass box.I'm usually more of the preservationist type for these things, but man, that hotel (it's a Wyndham now, I guess?) has got to go. Sorry to go off topic, but this photo just kicked me in the face with how grim that building is.
I suspect it is top-down construction, which saves you time if you need to get out of the ground quickly. Not the best illustration, but gets the point across:Could anyone explain to me how they build the 6 story underground parking in this case?
I talked to a friend who works at MGH and that's exactly what he said is happening. It appears that the building currently being constructed is the first of two buildings (framed by Cambridge St./Blossom St./Parkman St.). Once the Parkman Garage is demolished, the second building will go there. That is my read.

Yes.So to confirm based on the above, the taller one is the one currently under construction?
Red/Blue Connector? Is there any plan to ever address the traffic in and around MGH? Not sure what, if anything, can be done but it is often gridlock in the area even beyond rush hour times. Doesn't seem very safe given the required emergency access to the hospital.
