MGH Ragon Building | 55 Fruit Street | West End

The project doesn't really align with the T's current investment objectives (below), which is essentially to keep the system running. By the time they've allocated the funding for the critical "lights-on" projects, there's little to no money left for expansion. Consequently, there was no additional funding for the project in the most recent CIP cycle, but there is $19M in programmed spending (for design and other soft costs) through FY30.

Is that gerbil tube temporary? It looks like it was pulled from a prison design look book.

Looking at this rendering there does appear to be one, but it doesnt look like that. The gerbil tube also appears to enter the red building at a little different of a spot here.

Maybe it was VE’d and that is what we ended up with?

I suspect its this line from the IMP:

The IMP mentions "permanent bridge" a few times, and as the primary connection for the gerbil tube would run from White via Wang in a straight line meeting this new building on the Phase 2 Parkman site. The turning path taken by this structure appears aimed to connect the Wang White segment to the Phase 1 half, so it stands to reason that this is temporary.

That's looking down Parkman, so I believe thats the "permanent" bridge that will run alongside the Wang Building. It would be a view from the relative left of the below render - the vantage point would be down Parkman behind the white box truck.

This thing is so bad, dont know where to begin - massing, materials, meeting the street etc. all horrible - not really worth complaining about the lack of design approval process anymore...

I’m sure they would have been grateful for the delay while costs skyrocketed and a couple of randos played architect and slapped at least an additional $30-50m on the bottom line because as we all know, design aesthetics are a huge part of why patients with complex conditions choose where to be treated.
