Newton picks plan for smaller-scale housing at 15-acre property

City officials have chosen to move forward with one of the nine development teams who expressed interest in redeveloping the nearly 15-acre site put up for sale by a Newton family.

This is far better than the 20 units the area zoning would allow. That said, I'd much rather see real density on smaller lots close to transit, than this sort of thing. It's better than 20 mansions, but the car focus of the area just doesn't make for any kind of viable housing expansion. Ironically, it's not a bad area for biking, but the lack of transit is definitely an issue.
