I'm generally anti design review, but facades as bad as the Hampton Inn's should be illegal.

^ Totally agree, but somehow I kinda like the textured pattern. IMO it falls into the "so bad it's kinda sorta almost okay" category

Nothing says city like highway signage

I've long adored the tree canopy on Canal Street

Took a walk through the city today - Copley, to the Common, down Charles, over the bridge, down the Cambridge side to the Harvard Bridge, back over to Boylston, the Fens and Longwood. Tried fiddling with some settings on the camera, not a complete success but I did get some fun stuff.

More 2005 flashbacks, this one day where my new roommate knew someone who lived in Church Park Apartments and we were able to go up to the roof

Bro we were soooo cool

I love that shot over the South End where you can see clear into Southie (and beyond), I always forget that you don't have to go too far up to get clear sightlines of places in this city.

What building is under construction in that shot looking due north in to Cambridge?

That's 100 Lansdowne, which is part of the utterly forgettable University Park development just north of MIT's west campus.

100 Landsdowne was the final piece of University Park. It was delayed due to an ill-fated attempt to shift its program from housing to office space for the dotcom bubble. The market crashed before they could get financing on that, so they went back to housing.
