Pierce Boston (née The Point )| Boylston St/Brookline Av | Fenway

The finished cladding will make this look better, but I still think they messed up by using darker cladding on the lower portions of the eastern and northern faces. There are moments when low and bright directional light hits the building and erases most of the color difference between the lighter and darker cladding. It looks much improved then.

i like this building so much more with the added red courtesy of the crane. too bad they didn't incorporate some color (specifically red) into the facade.

Wow they totally dropped the ball on the mechanical facade.

What the eff is up with the black grating on the mech facade...I thought for a minute that it was incomplete, but then I went back and looked at the renders of this latest iteration, and yes indeed, the glass abruptly stops and back grating completes the majority of the mech penthouse's facade. : (

Likes:
-The overall height/presence of the building
-The quality and color of the glass
-The "sharp side" from the muddy river
-The vertical stripes running up the back

Dislikes:
-2 gradiants of trim, white and gray, where it should have only been 1 or the other
-The bright white trim at the top clashing with the rest of it
-The awkward angles on the top (see Fenway shot as example)
-Jarring transition from glass to grates

I'm going to wait for the rest of the cladding, crane to come down, and inside areas (including window shades) to be finished before coming up with a final rating. I really just don't get the white and gray trim though. That alone is enough to deduct at least an entire point. (on a 1-10 scale) It looks so bleeping stupid!!! I would consider it a faux pas on the same level as MT's unfinished roof.

Good summary. I think they need to put a sizable marker on Brookline near the Fenway with a message reading "The Pierce looks great if you stand...right...here"

With the exception of the image of the building at its bow ... the building makes me slee .... zzzzzzzzz

cca

why not glass for the trim? redundancy?

or to avoid blinding drivers up Boylston and Brookline Aves?

Is that ugly, long span of black on the mechanical floors the permanent cladding?
