Porter Square Infill and Small Developments

It’s an elaborate performance art piece, or a tax dodge. Look closely and all the TVs in the last photo are showing the same thing.

The weed-filled planters on the patio are just the icing on the cake.
Decades ago, my dad went to the old appliance store in Perkins Square looking for a part only to be politely informed that the store was a front. Same vibes here.

(Although I don't think the TVs are necessarily a sign of that - most hotel chains now have a "Welcome Guest" slideshow running when you check in, so I'd assume it's actually some variant of that).

The front desk usually has a staff person the times I've passed by, and one time I did see someone with an armful of bedsheets (meaning some housekeeping is presumably happening). So there do appear to be legitimate hotel activities going on, though it doesn't seem very busy - the most people I've seen so far was a handful of folks watching the World Cup on the lobby TV.

That being said, the appearance of "serious business" is somewhat undermined by this interesting piece of decor mounted right after the main entrance/in the vestibule. Among the many (many) other quirks, looks like the Zakim sprouted some new cables...

I know that's done by hand, and I know there are more quirks to the skyline, but damn those O's are killing me and feel like someone wrote B0ST0N instead.
