Portland - Civic Center

I agree mainejeff, it is sad that the BDN out hustles the PPH for locals news and event coverage in the Portland market! Also humored by the comment in the Portland paper stating that the entire building can handle up to 6000 people which is around 2500 less than the arena's max capacity and 1000 seats less than it's hockey capacity.

Checked out the new CCCC today at the home show. I'm very pleased with the interior and exterior renovations. It's not a new arena, but it actually feels more like a true arena now than an old stale concrete hockey barn.

I also went yesterday with my girlfriend, she was checking out the exhibits while I was checking out the arena! I agree with the Dr. and the Civic Center has gone from "no class" status to a higher level of "medium class". They made the most of what the building has to offer and the renovations will get us throughout the next decade until the debate will resurface. The only thing I did not like was the black paint and white "section" letters on the Free Street press boxes. Looked hideous and broke up the more attractive "black on white" theme around the top of the remainder of the building.

Going to Avett Brothers tonight at civic center. Can't wait to see the place

Looks like the civic center has a new name "Clark insurance center" don't think we saw that one coming.

It says Clark Insurance Entrance along with Bath Savings Entrance beside the Spring Street Garage. These are not naming rights to the overall arena itself.

Nice to run into two fellow ArchBostoners at the Civic Center today:

^^^ Very nice. Thanks for the pix's Corey.

Great photos Corey and it was cool hanging out with you again! Nice meeting markhb and welcome to the forums.

It was great meeting both of you! The building came out very nice... now we just need a promoter as enthusiastic as the folks at Bangor's Waterfront Concerts to start booking shows!

Very nice but that top corner "suite" is ridiculous (not in a good way). I can't believe that those supports impede the view so much. The lower ones are nice though.
