Has anyone heard about the yields for the B6 flights to FLL? Will this route come back later in the year?

Based on the available seat maps when booking, it seems that loads have been solid. Likely around 85-90%

However, JetBlue itself is not in good shape at the moment, and even if the route performs well, I think B6 is going to be very conservative with its network expansion for the foreseeable future.

BUT... at the very least it's a solid POC for another airline who might want to take a look!

I think Breeze will jump on FLL sooner rather than later. The east coast of Florida is the most obvious gap in PWM’s service map right now. They’ve already started offering PWM-FLL via a breeze-thru at CHS.

Any renderings?

Why is the neighborhood so protective of that green area when across the street--and closer to them--there is a big parking lot filled with rental cars.

I think I'll partially walk back my comments from earlier this week.

The collapse of Spirit may give JetBlue some "breathing room" and allow them to strengthen the core of their network and improve their financial standing.

Specifically, B6 has indicated that they want more growth at FLL, they just haven't been able to achieve that growth given both gate constraints and JetBlue's weak financial position. While it's never a good thing to see an airline fold, the end of Spirit opens up a lot of capacity at FLL.

The core of JetBlue's business has always been the Northeast to Florida. Their attempts to make JFK a connecting hub have been a major financial lead weight on the airline.(JFK is an expensive and capacity-constrained airport) There's plenty of room for B6 to grow at PWM so long as the company's high debt load doesn't prevent it from expanding. I could easily see a 3-4x weekly or even daily to FLL being successful if JetBlue can continue to build it as a connecting hub for the Caribbean and Latin America.

As an aside, JetBlue's PWM-MCO is loaded in for fall / winter at 3x weekly again. Hopefully that will change because additional frequency there is sorely needed.

Do airports ever finish? I travel a lot and I don't think I've been to one and seen it without some construction somewhere. I strongly believe a massive new garage behind the Hilton Garden Inn that can contain all the rental cars and long term parking, etc. is a smart way to go. And a long enclosed walkway maybe 40 feet high (for nice views too) could connect to the terminal. Substantial new space would be freed up pretty much all over the place. And parking garage traffic would not clutter up the drop off and pick up areas. Find the money.

Not saying it can't be done, but this being a pipeline ROW adds cost and logistical challenges:

Technically you could build a parking lot, but at some point, PPL might have to access the pipe. Then you have the conservation part of the land, the cemetery, and our friends in Stroudwater

Well, they're adding 11 new routes out of FLL, but none of those are Portland.

All of those new destinations are in the top 50 busiest airports in the country which makes sense. There may be more announcements down the road once the Spirit dust settles and my money is on Breeze or Allegiant when it comes to adding FLL service in the future.

The first time I flew out of it was 1978; it might have had its first expansion but it was definitely pre- jet ways.

Seems to be a mixed bag of one and two BreezeThru stops to FLL starting in July and continuing through January 2027. The one stop flights go thru either Tampa or Charleston and the two stop flights mostly go through Columbus and Savannah with each BreezeThru taking around 40 minutes. It's a start and will hopefully go to non stop service in the future if the demand is there. :)

I saw a return trip that went through Myrtle Beach and Akron-Canton. It's an interesting operations plan but I'm not sure the savings are worth the time it adds to the trip. Definitely not for my family!
