^^^This was a small house, mid-block, on Massachusetts Ave NW in Washington DC, and refused to sell. All the neighboring owners did.

Once the surrounding apartment buildings went up, the owner didn't like living there anymore. Sold the house. At a distressed price. This building shown has the same volume as the house but the front has been much modified. The rear portion of the lot is unusable.

I feel like this was a little bit of a "F-you" to the developer of the Port 45 building surrounding it. Don't sell initially, force the developer to build party walls around the existing property, and then list for sale (for some astronomical number) once the surrounding building is complete.

It's being marketed for redevelopment - https://bradvisors.com/property/85-87-a-street/ - and is listed for $1.5M.

^ Glad that little building held out. Block feels less soulless that it would otherwise.

Revisiting this thread, I'm surprised this incident, possibly peripheral to the construction, wasn't mentioned.

Long story short, owner of KO was holding out for more $$. Couldn't reach an agreement.

Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered!

Some have suggested they received a visit from the local Unwelcome Wagon.

Absolutely. And a good business. I'm a frequent flyer at their East Boston location. I only wish the beer were a bit cheaper...
