Not sure how the Braintree Split could be majorly improved. It's pretty locked in. XWAY can't be widened either.
sounds like sarcasm but thats true. much better than a jersey barrier. i dont see how this would fix things if 93/braintree isnt widened as well.Yes it's really nice to look at when you are sitting in traffic not moving.

Busses -- the south shore problem can be fixed in stages:
- 1. New Bridge across the Canal -- open road tolling
- 2. Designate Rt-3 to be I-93 rebuild over the next decade to Interstate Standards -- widen with Open Road Tolling
- 3. Designate Rt-25 from I-495 to I-93 as extended to be I-193 rebuild over the next decade to Interstate Standards
- 4. redesignate I-93 from I-95 to I-93 N [SE Expressway] be I-393 connect I-393 to I-93 South with a new road directly south of the split, retain the split for I-393 to I-93 N
Thus:[8] 5. Interstate class highway interchange and some I-class highway for Rt-44 in Plymouth -- eventual full limited access from I-93 to I-95
- someone heading S on I-93 wanting to go to the Cape would stay on I-93
- someone heading S on I-93 wanting to go to Dedham would take the I-393 exit from I-93 and follow the existing road to I-393 after S Shore Plaza
- someone heading N on I-93 heading for Dedham would take the new I-393 exit and follow the new road to I-393
- someone heading N on I-93 heading for downtown Boston would stay on I-93
- someone heading East toward Boston on I-393 would stay on I-393 to the ramp to I-93 N [the current road]
- someone heading E on I-393 wanting to go to the cape would take the new exit and the new I-393 to I-93 S ramp
- 6. then its time to finally fix the I-93/I-95 Woburn fiasco
I may well be missing something, but how does beefing up Route 3 to interstate standards fix the geometry and density problems confronting the Braintree Split and the Southeast Expressway?
