Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

At least put the bike lane between the parked cars and the sidewalk.

Seriously, why does the city keep fucking this up over and over? Like who is fighting doing this? It's incredibly unsafe the way we build bike lanes at the moment.

This is also labeled as Seaport Blvd median improvements on BLDUP. They used placeholders so it makes it harder to see where your at. This is right in front of 101 and 121 seaport.

Maybe it's not too late to demand a cycle track or at least a protected bike lane. I do like the (tiny modicum) of curve in the road... they should add more of these to calm traffic.

Its a rendering folks. They don't have time to make up fine art sculpture. If they would have someone would have screamed about how bad the art they are proposing is.

I really think the ones making the decisions about bike lanes are really trying to do it right but they just don't get bikes, bikers, and bike lanes. They need to take a quick trip over to Amsterdam (they've been mixing traffic, pedestrians, and bikers for years and got it down to a science) to see how bike lanes really work for the population. It's freakin amazing!

the same could be said for the transportation engineering details. its a rendering done by an architect, it shouldnt be taken so literally. Case in point, look how narrow the left turn pocket lane is onto Boston Wharf Rd (its not showing a curved road).
as I said a few posts back, this does not match other renderings shown or cross sections that are in the NPC.

also, why do people think the City has approved the bike lanes like this? The NPC was just submitted.

SimCity Blvd.

Individually the projects aren't bad ... but they are all singing a different tune at the same volume.

Annoying.

Blvd. of Broken Dreams.

.

Awesome comment. The BLVD is not bad.
But concerning Chap 91 scenario----all the open space parking lots now are walled off to the waterfront.

Where was the CLF & Barr Foundation concerning this type of Logic?

I totally agree with this sentiment. What would you (and others) put on, say, Parcel D or G, the remaining open parcels on this stretch, or do to the streetscape to bring a little harmony to this space? Is there a solution at all?

Trees and pedestrians will help. That latter will come no matter what, and it seems like there is an intention to do some streetscape work. Using more mature trees like next to the BPL on Boylston would make a big impact--both filling more of the space across the boulevard and making the area feel less brand new.

The boulevard and architecture could be better (and certainly could also be much worse) but the area is still very much a construction site. There are reasons to be negative but it's just too early to be writing it off as a disappointment.

Its definitely too incomplete at this point to really call it one way or another, especially when the best projects are all ahead of us. The M parcels, pier 4, and the rest of the L parcels are going to be very good and could change everything, we just have to wait and see. We even really have to wait until all of those are complete to see how some of the "finishing touches" that aren't even proposed yet come out. Too many variables right now.
