You're welcome.

Cape Cod is holding;

bonafide 6-8' surf on the East Coast? Sure!!

Locked in at the East Coast's most insane beach break:

San Fransisco has Ocean Beach. Boston has Marconi's/Wellfleet, MA.

for best results view in full screen.....

On occasion, New England gets southern hemi swell from the narrow window between South Africa and South America.... it doesn't happen often; maybe once every few years..... We had a multi-day swell event in September of 2011, with solid southern hemi surf reaching Cape Cod, Maine and Nova Scotia.

Storms churning in the Roaring 40's need to be extremely intense, have a strong north-northeast swell component, and be located in the perfect spot in the South Atlantic to clear the northeast coast of South America. Not ever swell that lights up Dungeons reaches New England, but every swell that reaches New England lights up Dungeons.....

From the time of peak storm intensity to swells arriving in New England is about 11-13 days. Waves actually are helped along (a bit) by 2 currents; The South Atlantic Current, and the Gulf Stream. :)

It is funny how apart from this post the only posters in this thread are Oduirana and Rifleman-those who are held in the lowest esteem by members of this community.

^Unnecessary. There are plenty of posts and threads to get annoyed about, but I don't see anything offensive in this thread.

I actually like to read this stuff as I grew up surfing all over New England. Haven't done it in years so I don't have anything to contribute, but I read it every time there is a post.

The idea of "Surfing magnificence around the Boston Metro" makes about as much sense as "The Great Golf Courses of the Arctic".

Why? Surfing in New England will never rival California, Hawaii, etc, but it's popular enough.

The 65 Hobie longboard retired a few years ago, and the wetsuit doesn't fit anymore. But if memory serves, you can get decent surfing close to Boston in Hull, or even Peggotty or Egypt Beach in Scituate. The water in November is about the same warmth as now. Would take my last ride around Xmas, first in early March. 10 mil comes in handy.

RI has good spots, outer Cape, even Old Orchard Beach once in awhile. OK, landsharks, its not Hawaii, but it doesn't suck either!

I didn't say there was. I said that it was funny.

Rhode Island has been good for weeks on end.....

and several classic days pushing double overhead on the reefs....

fishermen had no idea anyone would ever attempt to surf this zany slab in the middle of Gansett Bay

here's a sample from Wednesday

(The East Coast doing it's Teahupoʻo, Tahiti impression)....
