The Liberal Hour

Obama is the second least-popular president in the past forty years after 100 days according to Gallup.

How about we learn how to read polls before blindly criticizing Obama on something that you have as much expertise on as my left toenail?

Since when do you have the authority to decide what makes someone smart or dumb? Obama is infinitely smarter than me or you, and it's complete BS arguments such as yours that make me have less and less respect for conservative America.

"Obama's 63% first-quarter average matches the historical average of 63% for elected presidents' first quarters since 1953. However, it is the fourth highest for a newly elected president since that time, and the highest since Jimmy Carter's 69% in 1977. The historical first-quarter average includes two presidents whose scores exceeded 70% (John Kennedy's 74% and Dwight Eisenhower's 71%).

The average for all presidents' first quarters since World War II -- both presidents who were elected and those who took office after the death or resignation of their predecessors -- is slightly higher, at 66%. Harry Truman (87%) and Lyndon Johnson (76%) are two presidents who came into office mid-term and had very high initial approval ratings.

From a broader historical perspective, Obama's 63% quarterly average is well above the historical norm for all approval ratings, regardless of presidential quarter. It ranks in the 74th percentile of all presidential quarters since 1945, and is significantly better than the 54% average rating for all presidential quarters."

I stand behind everything I said because it's all true. There hasn't been one day on this earth that society hasn't been very messed up, Obama is about change and getting closer towards a better more equal world. Basically what the Kennedy's wanted to do in this world before they got killed.

I agree with ablarc, the thread is nonsense, but I thought I'd toss a few bombs in the mess for fun! Anonymous Internet chats about politics are rarely intellectual or fact-driven exercises, no different here.

And, because I simply cannot resist...

Obama is not smarter than you, me or most people. His intellect is quite average, I am sure.

If anyone has proof otherwise, please present it.

Oh, and BTW Lexicon, to defend my honor - I described a poll, the Gallup 100 day poll, and you responded by posting a different poll (Gallup Q1) and then proceeded to accuse me of not being able to read a poll.

If I were the sophomoric type, I may retort with something along the lines of "if can't read a poll, then perhaps you just can't read?"

But I'm not, so I wouldn't say that :)

Where do you get off shifting the burden of "proof" for this imbecilic claim to the Obama supporters? You can't make that move unless you have SOME SEMBLANCE of evidence in favor of your own position in the first place. Intuitive high ground, whatever. You have none. All you can do cite Bush's own shitty grades and test scores, which you (laughably) defend as "above average."

How many B/C students get accepted to Harvard Law School (much less become editor of the Law Review)? I dare you to say Affirmative Action.

Oh yeah, and I love how you tacked on that smarmy little guarantee at the end. You're sure of Obama's merely average intelligence. Right..coz you said so? They teach you to pull that weak shit in B-school? (B for 'brand'?)

Oh, and so you don't bother bringing it up...

There's no essential connection between intelligence and ability to speak articulately off the cuff. Ever met a professor with a stutter?

Why don't you link to this mysterious poll you keep citing? That would lend you a bit more credibility.

Just for reference, Obama's 100 day approval rating was 65% - http://www.gallup.com/poll/118054/100-Days-Obama-Approval-Broad-Deep.aspx
