The New Office/Lab Thread

^

Article sources say 80,000 to 120,000 square feet (current location is 18,500). Looking on both sides of the Charles.

It would be great to see them in the Seaport....

Agreed. Makes one wonder if Skanska would pull them into 121 Seaport now that it's basically built, or whether Skanska would instead hold out for a ~400ksqft megatenant. Same goes for office@pier4, though that's less far along...

There are other less interesting 100-150 ksqft spaces available, though, so this should be a fun one to keep an eye on.

Facebook's in Kendall now, right. MIT buildings may be too far out, but what's going on in the space Microsoft is vacating on the tip of the triangle?

IIRC Microsoft is keeping the space, and sub leasing it. Not sure that deal would happen, but who knows. Money is money.

The MIT SoMa building are out there, but building 5 is the office building in the bunch, and it doesn't have 6 levels of garage below it, just one basement level with loading docks. It could conceivably go up and be occupiable quicker than the others. Still pretty far out there though as CD's were just issued end of June.

Facebook will be adding 500 jobs to the Kendall Square area in the 100 Binney building. That would bring them up to 650 employees total in the Boston area.

^ wow, kudos to skanska for booking full occupancy before the end of construction.

^ This will hopefully give a couple other spec office developers the confidence to go forward.

Between 101 and 121 Seaport, Skanska made a killing.

Now if they can just solve the offices of
1 Congress
Hub on Causeway
SST
115 Winthrop
Harbor Garage
need some Aetna and B of A types.

Strange that Alexion just announced they are cutting 20% of their workforce a few days ago. That rent premium!

Hoping for some interesting retail/restaurant announcements now that the office space is 100% leased. I believe this has a solid amount of retail space.

Looks like these guys are taking over some of the to-be vacated Boston Consulting Group space in One Beacon once BCG moves over to their new home in the Pier 4 office tower:

A downtown skyscraper known for its high-profile private club will soon house a rapidly growing co-working behemoth downstairs. WeWork announced Friday it will continue its Boston expansion by opening a 60K SF branch next year across the 14th and 15th floors of One Beacon Street in Beacon Hill. The co-working company has significantly grown from its 2014 Boston arrival with offices in Fort Point and the Leather District. The company now operates offices in Central Square in Cambridge, Back Bay and will open an office near North Station in early 2018, the Boston Globe reports.
