Worcester Infill and Developments

Unfortunately nothing lasts in Worcester for very long. Seems many businesses may at first succeed but eventually they have short shelf lives and are not sustainable.

What a shitty hot take. Malls have their own problems, but Worcester has many thriving long-lived businesses that are not malls.

RIP Greendale Mall, I hardly knew ye.

Even though this is demolition it has a wonderful ghost town appearance.
Abandoned America, good site for ruins https://www.abandonedamerica.us

The former mall was a waste, even depressing at the end. I'm glad to see that a new facility will be replacing it, even if it's a amazon distribution center. At least is will be functional if not thriving. The location for that type of facility is perfect, right off the highway and no neighborhoods for the vans to slog through.

Does anyone know what is happening with the parking lot behind the Palladium? About half of it, the side bordering Commercial St., is completely dug up. Is something being built or are they just redoing the lot?

Mission Church getting repurposed for apartments

That seems like an awful place to live at market rate. Mostly first floor in a high traffic area that borders a railway.

Off the rails, which took Still & Stir's spot, is expanding to be a live music venue as well as restaurant

Some good glazing and accoustin insulation oughta help?

Hope it won’t take until 2025. The original completion date was November 2022

they will blame Cpvid-19 for the delay, like everything else. They aren't even finished with the design yet, bidding just ended Sep 9th

Walker Shoe factory listings. it would have been nice to not cover up the red brick...... little too white washed...and counters in the kitchen are tiny

Yea I dont like the white either... but that's kind of in right now.

Challenging project. The building doesn't have a lot of depth so I'm sure they were challenged to maximize space.

The original Main Street front wing of the courthouse is beautiful. Its later additions in back along Highland and Harvard Streets are not.

No new construction but there are plans to convert four old industrial buildings into “LaGrange Mill Lofts”.
The redevelopment encompasses two blocks in the Main South neighborhood which still has a good number of old factory buildings. I’m happy to see those preserved, including the smoke stacks (according to architectural drawings).

Some quick interior shots while I was on a run. The common space in the old courtroom is undeniably cool.
