Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

Re: Quaker Lane/Congress Square | Downtown

Not to derail but a better place for an alley experience like stone st NYC would be the alley behind the point, bell in hand, union oyster, green dragon in fanuiel technically I think it's Marshall st.

How great would that be? A few tables and open air eating/drinking.

Boston does not do enough to capitalize on the few months of nice weather it gets.

Wish congress sq was done I'd be there right now.

I wonder if local residents will complain about new shadows.

I'd like to see more attention paid to the Blackstone Block's nooks and crannies. It could really be a neat area (neater than what it is). Scott Alley and Creek Square (at least according to Google Maps) could use some work. Many of the buildings facing those areas have bricked up windows and doorways. The area was converted into a service/deliveries area. Then there's the small surface lot back there. It definitely has potential.

I do think Quaker Lane could end up looking something like Belden Place in San Francisco (from the renderings, it doesn't look like it'll be as dense as that). Boston could definitely use a spot like that. Other locations I've thought of would be Bosworth Street, Court Square (the side closest to Tremont), City Hall Avenue, and perhaps most likely, Spring Lane. I'll take Congress Square to start though.

Connect Historic Boston is going to do a lot of renovation to the Blackstone Block.

Everything about this suggests a huge upgrade to the block, and great additions to the urban fabric.

This has got to be one of my favorite projects in the pipeline right now, especially for downtown.

This project looks to be a fantastic mix of old and new. I'm deeply looking forward to seeing it through- AND they're keeping those beautiful fire escapes, thank heavens.

Awesome.

But this isn't slated for construction until the 1st/2nd quarter of 2017!?!? Seems like a long time.

Happily, you misread the key quote:

"Related Beal is aiming to start construction this fall and deliver the project by the first or second quarter of 2017."

Ah.

Thanks, I guess I skim read.

Got some renderings on that site that have never been posted to this forum before, so here goes. I'd offer context, but my knowledge of the street names around there is a little dubious.

Love, love, love this project. So happy to see this one getting started.

The glass hat box on top of Water Street looks foolish.
