Good enough for a feasibility study. It was never intended to be built in one homologous architectural style.

It's crazy to think that the current Google Map image of the Innovation District is probably no more than 2 years old, yet it seems like such a distant reality from where we are today. This is true urban renewal. Although some might not agree with the architectural caliber of the recent additions, the density and new amenities it has brought to the city are truly amazing.

On another note there is a HUGE lack of trees/planters on the right side of seaport blvd as shown in the above image. Whats up with that? Trees/benches will go a long way towards bringing this new streetwall to life. I know they are putting in both across the street.

The satellite imagery is more up to date than the 3d imagery, as it was taken back in May this year. Even that is a huge difference.

I have mixed emotions on the pics.
Lots of Glass Boxes--- some nice---- some basic.

Looks Underwhelming for a such a prime development spot but not a total loss.
Pro's:
The architecture of the Boxes are not that bad.
Area seems lively--restaurants
Condo Community (Basically yuppies and business professionals)
Keeps the skyline basic (This can be a good thing)

CONS:
Transit--Big problem here
No real generational community that will grow to make an area unique.
Not really an area to raise a family
What happens if Biotech consolidates or blowouts in the future. What will happen to these buildings and how will the area evolve then?

The big question is can the ground-floor of the developments connect to the street activity. I believe this will be the game changer for the better or worse area.

As the mat beneath the Millenium San Francisco sinks in their land filled-harbor, How are building foundations usually done in the seaport? How far down is bedrock? I worry about both future super storms and the rare Mid-plate rupture earthquake.

Almost the entire South Boston Seaport was actually marshland, so not exactly straight up fill. More like permanently claiming tidal land. I'm not sure how that would compare to San Fran.

Neither city used the same type of landfilling in every place. Build-to-suit, so you need to Google the geological history of Boston to make sense of what filling technique was used where and why. Seaport's not nearly as fucked in a flood event as the South End despite facing the open water. Its drainage properties are very different: not nearly as good as the spots that used to be peninsula and Harbor islands, not nearly as bad as the tidal estuaries.
