Gables Seaport (née Waterside Place 1B) | 505 Congress Street | Seaport

Slanty-roof notwithstanding, I still think this looks like an eyesore next to its neighbors, NEMA and Echelon. I think it's particularly noticeable in person, granted none of the projects are completed yet.

Slanty roofs are the laziest non-flat roof design there is. Thank god for the Whiskey Priest and State Street HQ developments. At least some sliver of creativity exists in this city.

Thanks.

Some loved it and then some came out to squash any positive comments. You know, 'cause the internet .
Nah it's not about you. It's my opinion and has always been my opinion on slant roof. You think it's a positive. Great. I think it's an eye roll after seeing what other cities have to offer.

This project looks good in person better than expected, I think.

Garish, its not the absolute worst thing I've seen but it could and should be much, much better

This staircase is a big deal as far as connecting summer st to the rest of the seaport through multiple egress points. The more options there are in multiple places the more summer st becomes a natural extension where it has been an island. The steps at parcel N obviously being the biggest improvement, but its important to have options in many places and this helps as far as convenience to facilitate movement and not funneling everybody to the same couple of places.

Sorry for the time warp on this...just catching up on the forums... I really love how the details on this building are coming together.

To echo Stick, these stairs are a nice addition and a worthwhile use of the awkward wedge between this building and the Silver Line head house. It might be slightly easier to access than the stairs/escalators inside (they're practically right next to each other, separated only by a wall), but it's way nicer than even more blank wall.

Well it's better than Waterside Place... but not by much.

From my bike ride through the Seaport this morning. It’s been a while since I last actually walked along this street and I forgot how dead these buildings felt... I worry any street retail will see much success, mainly because of its neighbors (or lack thereof). I’m happy to be proven wrong as the pieces come together in this area.

There is room for the buildings across the street to incorporate retail if they want to, so Im hopeful they will. Looking around the city theres lots of buildings incorporating more retail into streetwall spaces that had none, so its definitely trending in the right direction.
