Nice of Walk Boston to bail on BTD here, but Walk Boston has always favored concurrent peds because there is less wait time. They have been pushing BTD for more concurrent peds all over the city for 20 years.
Only 1 entity to blame here, and its New England drivers. period. If you wanted action by the City, it should have been done through enforcement by BPD, not going back to an inferior signal timing.

Have you crossed this intersection? Its been a disaster since the day they did it. Yes, its 100% on BTD as well as poor driving. They ignored complaints via 311 and from office workers.
 
Concurrent signals are a fine thing where most cars are going straight, but not at a T-intersection where nearly all drivers coming out of the side street will be turning left across the crosswalk.
 
why?? the left turning motorists at this intersection have zero conflict other than the pedestrian to look out for. why is a T intersection without an unobstructed left turn any different than an intersection where motorists are going straight but some also turning right?

I walk it all the time. only issue is driver incompetence and the general ignorance of drivers in this region, not BTD design. the complaints to 311 should have been to BPD about drivers not following the rules of the road, not to BTD for a change to signal timings.
and for the record, Im not an anti car advocate by any means. I have a big ass 3rd row SUV and all.

Should probably move this discussion since it has nothing to do with development and is in Ft Point.

Angled intersection + pedestrians entering from the far sidewalk + curve right before blocking visibility for approaching cars = too dangerous to have concurrent walk.

Another option there would be to use a dashed stripe to nudge drivers to make a sharper (and therefore slower) 90-degree turn within the intersection, instead of cutting the corner as I suspect they do today. FWIW, I think it's actually the lack of oncoming through movements that make that dangerous. If cars were coming from the other direction you couldn't cut the corner.
 
I'm not anti car either...however, the complaints should have been handled. Why not have some police patrols if the drivers are out of control speeding up Melcher? There was a conflict, and the city failed in addressing it.
 
Nice photos, BeeLine! The Seaport grows more beautiful every time I visit. Can't wait to see how it all looks 5-10 years from now!

I'm more interested in how active it is one year from now- it looks "full" because the buildings are in interior fit out, but they aren't generating activity yet. Next fall will look similar from the outside (not that there won't be more projects) but with big changes in the pedestrian density and streetscape

It's already quite active. The changes that I see year over year are quite noticeable. Every summer seems to eclipse the last as far as activity go. Sometimes, it is just downright crowded. These new buildings will likely like expand the areas that are crowded.

I second this PSA! I've been going to "Tuesday movie night" at Icon since they opened. Honestly a top-notch theater experience overall and usually never overcrowded. Plus it's always an excuse to check out what's new in the neighborhood. I'd highly recommend to all!

“The project planned for a pair of adjacent parcels at the Northern Avenue entrance to the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park would run to 381,000 square feet rather than up to 900,000 under a revised proposal filed with the city in mid-October.
