Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

And they are now updated!

If you can get your hands on paper copies, then get your hands on them soon -- these will be limited editions! (Knock on wood!)
Any idea where we can get the physical copies? The only physical system map I've seen so far is like a 2016-18 version at North Station, lol.

Here are 26 photos out of 460 (lol) I've taken today.

Starting with one that few people have taken or even know it existed: The only D train departing from Union Square at 4:52am. I got off the first train at Lechmere so that I can snap this.

Ok, now here's the actual first train. Again taken at Lechmere to avoid the 20+ passengers at Union Square.

The following are assorted photos of trains, followed by stations:

(Continued in next comment)

Why are outbound speeds so crazy slow? We crawled across the Lechmere viaduct. We went barely faster on the new viaduct. We crawled and flange-squealed our right turn onto the down ramp. We crawled on the down ramp. We had a 🛑 sign mid down ramp. We crawled into Union Sq.
hopefully this is just temporary to let the new ballast settle? The stop sign is troubling however.

Have the buses moved over to the new Lechmere?

Yes, I took the 87 to Lechmere yesterday and was let off at the new bus circle.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see any fare validation machines on that side of the station. I looked around, went up to the platform, then had to go back down the steps on the other side of the station to validate my fare lol. (I realize I could have tapped on the train but I wanted to see what the new process was like.)

Thee are validation machines on that side of the station, but facing N First St.

I hope so. By the way the ballast looks fabulously groomed (except for the occasional side-pile) The ties look about 50% more closely spaced (really numerous on the Lechmere viaduct). And the sensors on the ground look gorgeous

Nothing to do with coins, it would just be a place to tap that isnt the same place where you do other transactions

Even when I've just added money on the pass, the machines will say; Not enough money or, Cannot Read pass! It's in the same location in my wallet all the time, & the pass gets rejected for nonsense things I just got it in the mail a short while ago. I tell you, that those machines are a pure nuisense all the time, or they just don't work at all.

So, on my outbound to Union yesterday, we actually stopped to let some folks off just after the ramp. Not sure if they were T officials or GLX constructors, but they were in hi-viz and then they headed to a group of folks in hard hats. Maybe that stop sign is temporary while construction is ongoing?

The other stop sign, right by the Union emergency exit path, might be permanent. I wonder if thats why trains seemed to favor the southern track.

Now that the Union Square branch is operational and the Medford Branch is planned to open in a few months, I really hope that attention eventually turns toward advocating for future extensions. As for the Green Line itself, GLX should be a stepping stone for new rapid transit lines and branches that communities north of Boston need and deserve. Ideas such as extensions to Mystic Valley Parkway (and potentially even further), Porter Square (and hopefully Watertown afterwards), Everett/Chelsea, and Grand Junction light rail are all now possibilities since GLX was a prerequisite to all of those projects.

I was very pleased to hear things such as GLX to Mystic Valley Parkway, GLX to Porter Square, Commuter Rail electrification, East-West Rail, and the NSRL mentioned by various politicians during the grand opening ceremony yesterday. The Green Line extension hopefully marks the start of a new era for the MBTA, and the momentum for transit expansion needs to continue growing.

Are there provisions for Everett/Chelsea and Grand Junction branches?
