Beautiful pictures of a beautiful city. One question I have is how is the ground level activation there? Ive never been there, but KL in pictures seems to be pretty car centric, especially for an east/south asian city. It does seem to be improving though. Is that your impression or am I way off base?
KL is a funny city. It's densely populated, but it's walkability is severely lacking.
If you go to Bukit Bintang (a central district with lots of malls, restaurants and bars), it's as vibrant and walkable as any place in Asia. But outside of that. you'll really only find good, comfortable walkability in certain sections. The reason is that the old housing districts may be dense, but they lack sidewalks or any sort of safe walking environment. Here's an example of what I mean. This is a place called USJ 6, located in a KL suburb known as Subang Jaya:

Then, with many of the newer developments, you get very tall and dense buildings, often located above small (but sometimes big) shopping malls. Everything you could ever want is located within the complex, so you can walk/take an elevator to get most of your necessities, but once you go outside of the building, the walkability becomes challenging. Here's an example of that:

Then, in other areas you have new condos, often built near shop lots, that do have some amount of walkability, but the street wall is often literally a wall:

But there is hope. A place like Desa Park City gives me hope that one day KL can tie its neighborhoods together to make a more Singapore-esque, cohesive city, where you can walk from one neighborhood to the next without the fear of being hit by a car.
