Fan Pier Developments | Seaport

John, why did you make every photo its own post?

^ The subject matter's beauty demanded individualized showcasing.

Oh. Actually, didn't think about it. I was going through a series of photos I had uploaded to photobucket and each had to be resized and rotated so I did them individually. Is that wrong to do?

No, not wrong, I just wasn't sure if you had reason. Most people just throw them all in one post. No big deal.

Hi All on this forum, new member here, but have been a lurker here for a while. Great site. Did want to mention though that last night when I was picking up a package at FedEx on Summer street I noticed some crazy multicolor lightshow effect up the sides of this new building (FanPier). Has anybody else seen this?

Welcome portnorfolk,

I believe there was a discussion of the LED lights on the building starting on page 91 of this thread.

Flashing LED lights, dizzying effects, giant wall graphics and sexy, in-your-face billboards... all for a lonely little office stump on the outskirts of downtown.

It reminds me of a frumpy accountant getting tarted up for his big night on the town in Vegas. Cut through the clatter, and it's still a frumpy accountant.

BTW ablarc: "Ghastly, all of it" should be the slogan.

But get someone drunk enough and they'll still take him/her home. Looks like Fallon has kept the booze flowing for Fish & Richardson.

Dec 17: @Louis_Boston's new location at Fan Pier is under construction. The footings and foundations have been completed, structural steel for 1st and 2nd floor is erected, the crane works to install the steel trusses and metal decking.

Why are they building that stupid Louis Boston thing? They're really too exclusive to have a store in One Marina Park Drive? Instead, they need to take up a lot that was designed for a large condo/office/retail stump with a two story, 1,000 sq. ft. store? Right. Makes sense.

One Marina Park Drive will probably go down in history as Boston's largest and most spectacular commercial real estate failure*, and there are 8 additional parcels to build on. They could afford to give one to a temporary store. Nothing else is going to be built here for many, many years. At least the temporary store will bring some much-needed life at little cost. Welcome to the "world-class waterfront" that Menino envisioned... temporary strip malls, surrounded by parking lots. And wind.

*with apologies to 33 Arch Street.

December 1, 2009 - a beautiful, sunny day at Fan Pier on Boston's Waterfront. Photo taken from an upper floor of ONE Marina Park Drive at Fan Pier overlooking the recently completed Park and HarborWalk leading to the ICA. Photo illustrates the relationship of the new Park to Boston's Waterfront.
