    Tir Na Nog

I was at The Independent a few weeks ago and noticed that the bartender had on a shirt from the Nog. I asked him what the deal was with the closing and he didn't know for sure at that time. What I did learn was that the guy that owns the Nog also owns The Independent, PJ Ryan's, the Littlest...

Boston Life Science Center - Blackfan Circle

This building is looking really impressive against the sky. It is rising head and shoulders above its surroundings, and can be seen from across town and Cambridge. Its good to see another high rise cluster forming outside of downtown.

Mandarin Oriental | 776 Boylston St | Back Bay

I think that it is concrete too. If you look at the sides of the panel, you can almost see tiny air bubbles that were trapped when the concrete was set. Unless those are tiny fossils, though I doubt it...

And we can't forget that the Customs House Tower was added to the original neoclassical Customs House building.

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

^Does Boston really need more greenspace? I'd rather see a restoration of the street grid through City Hall Plaza (mainly the extension of Hanover st to Cambridge st). I'd also prefer that the building be preserved for another use, and to redevelop the plaza. Putting up a tall building next...

Why are office towers on the rise again in Boston?

Re: I know nothing about this .... You are correct to assume that. Interest rates are extremely low and the resulting yields on bonds are low, so investors aren't putting money in the bond market. Return expectations for stocks have also dwindled and probably will be on the low side. Real...

I guess the drop dead deadline to close is the end of March. But they're moving across the street at some point.

We built this city ... Second Life

The Boston of 1890 should have the proposed island in the Charles that was never built

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

 If NIMBYs have their way, the city will be reduced to single rich white people and nothing else. Students bring a lot of good things to a neighborhood, I don't see how this is a bad thing.

Wow, they're still erecting steel here? I thought they would have been through by now..

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

From Today's Globe: Neighborhood news: The Massachusetts Historical Commission has thrown a roadblock in the way of plans for the $620 million redevelopment of the Filene's property in Downtown Crossing. In a letter, the commission, part of the Massachusetts secretary of state's office, ruled...

Boston Properties Office Tower | 888 Boylston Street | Back Bay

I actually kind of like the design (based on these very poor renderings). As long as the glass is not too dark, a glitzy building like this might fit in well on Boylston street.

    115 Federal St. (Winthrop Square)

Belkin is pushing to increase the width of the tower? Great, just what we need, another Boston heffer, except this one will be much taller.

    1330 Boylston Street | Fenway

Is this building going to be condominiums?

NEMA Boston | 399 Congress St. | Seaport

How do height restrictions make for an average neighborhood, architecturally speaking? And it is the rte. 128 inspired architecture that makes this neighborhood dull, in my opinion. Not to mention the cheap construction materials and lack of an all encompassing master plan.

Evolution of the Prudential Center: 1954-1989

Cool, thanks for posting this. The original renderings for 111 Huntington look terrible! I'm glad that thing was never built.

Early stages of construction may have already started on this project. There is some equipment on the site and a few piles of dirt.

^Wow, I didn't realize that this would be so close to Main Street. The offices where I work are right at the corner of that rendering. As it stands, the land where this building will be built is a parking lot.
